In 2015 the Engel-Apotheke merged with the Kronen-Apotheke, and the commercial space on the ground floor of the property was then rented directly to Hörberatung Blumer. The property was extensively renovated beforehand. Many details have been worked out lovingly and the rooms have become flooded with light with gives a cosy feeling to the visitor.

Water Damage Ceiling Renovation

The 3.5-room apartment at Hauptstrasse 49 in Rorschach had to undergo complete renovation due to water damage. In the process, the apartment was also upgraded to a high standard. The interior is characterized by understated elegance, and the basic amenities are both sophisticated and appropriate.

The ceiling, damaged by the water leak and designed in Rococo style, was likely applied around 1770-1780. This masterpiece of stucco work, after careful restoration in collaboration with the Office for Monument Preservation, now impresses with its grace and remains preserved in high quality for future generations.

After the renovation, the stunning apartment presents itself as modern, bright, and featuring a beautifully adorned salon. The original tiled floor has been preserved in the kitchen, while wood-textured tiles were used in the bathroom. A true “gem” of masterful craftsmanship.

Renovation in the Residential and Commercial Building at Hauptstrasse 49, Rorschach

The attic was completely renovated in 2009. Special care was taken to preserve the original charm of this apartment, while transforming it into a gem under the roof gable with a modern bathroom design. The once dark and uninhabitable attic was converted into a spacious, light-filled two-story apartment, thanks to the addition of new roof windows.

In November 2015, the apartment on the first floor was renovated, showcasing a high-end finish. The kitchen features an island and is equipped with the latest Bosch/Siemens appliances. High-quality oak parquet flooring was installed in the bedroom and hallway, adding a distinctive character to this stunning old-style apartment.

The building’s charm is highlighted by details such as the rustic sandstone portal with two pilasters placed at angles, supporting a cornice structure with a heraldic cartouche and volutes, as well as the delicate transom grille.
